This scenario uses the RASKOLL EUROPA RPG System (2d10 Narrative Engine). The party is a mix of established Heroes and newly encountered allies, each contributing with their unique attributes and skills.
RPG Scenario: The Whispering Vault of Old Heidelberg
I. The Setup: The Whispers of Purification
The Hook: The party has accepted a high-stakes contract from the Alpine Conclave (paid in rare Pre-Burn currency) to retrieve a Purification Data Core from a long-lost section of the Heidelberg subway tunnels, near the contested Rhine Divide. The core is essential for stripping the nanites from corrupted gear.
Goal: Retrieve the Data Core and escape the tunnel system.
Threat Level: Moderate-High (Due to DOMINION activity and unstable terrain).
II. Exploration and Initial Checks
| Challenge | Character Action / Target DN | Resolution / Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Tunnel Navigation | Kaelen rolls 2d10 + Wit + Lore (Pre-Burn). DN 12. | Success means smooth passage. Failure means the party triggers a rockslide and gains Disadvantage on the first encounter. |
| Locating the Core | Anya rolls 2d10 + Sync + Nanite Weaving. DN 14. | Success means she pinpoints the core's exact location, giving the party Advantage on the ambush check. Failure means the core is deeper, raising the threat level. |
| Geological Stability | Barik (Terra-Forged) rolls 2d10 + Might + Endurance. DN 11. | A safety check. Failure means a section of the floor collapses, and one character (randomly selected) suffers 1 Wound and gains Disadvantage on their first action. |
III. Encounter 1: The Bio-Brutes (Combat)
The party is ambushed by DOMINION’s heavy assault units.
Enemies: 1 Orken Labor Caste (DN 13, Might 4, Wounds 5) and 1 Og'rum Enforcer (DN 15, Might 5, Wounds 8).
| Character Action | Attribute & Skill Used | Outcome / Key Mechanic Used |
|---|---|---|
| Kaelen's Attack | 2d10 + Might + Melee Combat vs. Orken's DN 13. | Critical Success (Double 10s): Max damage + Bleed Status (Orken takes 1 auto-damage at start of its turn). |
| Jean-Luc’s Brace | 2d10 + Might + Melee Combat vs. Og'rum's DN 15. | Success: Lands a blow. French Republic trait in action: If two more allies are adjacent, Jean-Luc gains +1 Defense. |
| Kiks' Sabotage | 2d10 + Sync + Tech Repair vs. Orken’s DN 13. | Success: The Orken is stunned for 1 round. Kiks utilized his Gobblin Tech Savvy trait. |
| Anya’s Disruption | 2d10 + Sync + Nanite Weaving vs. Og'rum's DN 15. | Anya attempts to disrupt the Og'rum’s nanite regulator. Failure: She rolls a double 1s (Critical Failure), and her ruin tablet loses 1 Equipment Condition. |
IV. Climax: The Synthel Agent (The Final Confrontation)
The Synthel agent arrives, attracted by the nanite energy. This is a battle for the core itself.
Enemy: 1 Synthel Agent (DN 16, Wit 4, Sync 5, Wounds 6) equipped with a DOMINION Code Lock (Immune to Fear/Morale effects).
| Challenge | Character Action | Outcome / Key Mechanic Used |
|---|---|---|
| The Synthel's Assault | Synthel attempts to grab the Data Core: 2d10 + Sync + Digital Interface vs. Kaelen’s DN. | If successful, the Synthel takes the core, and the party must defeat it before it escapes the final round. |
| Elara's Temporal Aid | Elara (Chrono-Faie) uses her Temporal Echo trait. | She gains Advantage on her next attack roll and uses her action to target the Synthel's movement, forcing it to lose 1 action next round. |
| Barik's Intercept | Barik uses his Core Density trait to absorb the Synthel's energy blast. | Barik gains +1 Defense against the Sync attack. He attempts to pin the Synthel in place using Might + Melee Combat. |
| Final Morale | If the Synthel or the Data Core is destroyed, all nearby human characters (Kaelen, Jean-Luc, Anya) must pass a Will Check against the psychological shock of the event (DN 10). | Failure: The hero gains 1 point of Corruption from the psychic trauma of the AI failure. |
V. Resolution
If the party retrieves the Data Core and successfully navigates the tunnels, they collect their reward from the Alpine Conclave (e.g., 500 Crowns or 3 XP per player). They must then decide whether to trust the Conclave to use the core responsibly.
